"Schwingungen"
for the European cultural capital Ruhr 2010

Unknown, rare sounds that float above the surface, such
as dragonflies, hypnotic rhythms from Christof Schlaegers
own sound-machines, which continual and repeated shapes
new structures, that was the concert "Schwingungen".
Amaze yourself, how elegant these profane machines seems,
when they liberated of their technical limitations and create
a different view. Hey, are there really pumps? Or giant
grasshoppers? Graceful swans? Children who want to show
things to each other? Whether these machines could also
dream? Sure a poetic ballet performed by seven concrete
pumps, conducted by Marjon Smit and Seta Guetsoyan, extend
their long necks - or feelers - in the evening sky.
Two excavators, seem to tell each other
fairy-tales during a sort of an aluminum can dinner. And
hold your breath, when bengal fire, hanging on the concrete
pump arms, saturates the canal in a fluffy red. A new spatial
experience through the acoustic interaction between the
sound islands, which transformed the dock district into
a hudge "urban" concert hall. And the Ruhr area
is full of magical places, full of mysteries to be discovered.
