Telewald

"Telewald is reminiscent of a group of bicycles, each with its bell being rung, paving its way."

Technical Details

Year: 1999 / 2014

72 telephone bells have been mounted on a slightly concave carrier of 3.10 meters in height and are struck by magnets. In addition to these standard telephone bells, the artist also uses prepared bells in the form of flat metal discs, which produce a rattling sound. Eight carriers with a total of 576 bells constitute the renewed, complete instrument, 72 bells forming an object subdivided into four groups of 18 bells each group simultaneously producing “one tone”. Schläger presented the renewed instrument for the first time in the exhibition “Urban Rituals."
